We Are Building Oakland In Ten Days!!!

But this time in the world of Minecraft, the well known and beloved indie game(Independent video game) played by just about all technology savvy gamers, we will build it again. So if you missed out on the the other times when Oakland was born, razed and then born again, fear not because this weekend, Alex Handy the internationally known technology journalist and director of The MADE(The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment), Oakland’s Video Game Museum and the community on the Paradise Minecraft Server are the www.wecustomize.org Customizers-In-Residence.

We Are Building Oakland in Minecraft in 10 Days! Museum goers are invited to come into the we/customize studio this weekend and help us finish building and altering while exploring a virtual model of Oakland.

The deadline is Friday, April 26th and on that day, from 5 pm to 8 pm, we will be showing hard work. On Saturday and Sunday, April 27th and 28th, we’ll be showing it again from 1 pm to 4 pm. Help us meet this fun, tight and challenging deadline!

I like checking in periodically to see Building Oakland in 10 Days. It’s also one of those times when you find the people that are passionate about something are willing to share their work.

The Oakland Rover’s arrival at its missions was met with artists and families and families of artists who have been customizing mass-produced objects and ideas all along. The purposes have been utilitarian rolling buggies and hand-hewn wooden art trailers. The job of The Rover wasn’t to “discover” customizers but to chart a course that connects the disparate stories into a customized narrative and to understand that there are wonderous worlds outside of The Oakland Museum Of California. We welcome you to to participate in our PHASE II: Great Hall Rove-in  and read our mission reports, examine our findings and find for yourself, a customized narrative.

Weekend Highlights Part I: “Shook On It!”
Rolled up on Oakland Art Murmur’s “Reason to Celebrate”, holiday and launch party for their new membership program Thursday night @Warehouse 416. We shook things up with our guest customizer Justin Limoges and his Handshake Project. Party-goers taught us their favorite handshakes which we recorded for Jason to customize further! Food, Jazz, the Oakland Ballet and yours truly, The Oakland Rover were on the bill. The OAM party was serious customization!
